Hartwig's Gobbler Supper Club & Motel
"The Gobbler Supper Club, the only one of its kind in all the world, was conceived to enhance the role of Tom Turkey as the all-American delicacy. The building's rotunda design permits dramatic use of natural lava stone to simulate ruffled turkey feathers and windows form the 'eyes of the Gobbler'...A rotating bar that made a full circle every 80 minutes was the central feature of the building."

Haven Modern Motel
An old grouping of motel cabins sits abandoned in the weeds, looking like they were transported from the dusty roadsides of Route 66. Actually, they were once visited by guests such as Ozzie & Harriet, the Von Trapp Family Singers, Joe Louis and the ambassador to Australia. A few years ago, you couldn't find anything about this place on the net, but now it's become a photographer's mecca.

John Tio, the 'Pop Top King'
"John Tio has had a lifelong fascination projects using large numbers of items. Using aluminum pull tabs (which he could acquire economically), he invented a system of tab display that eventually covered his weekend retreat and adjacent outbuildings."
– section from Wisconsin Academy Review website

"John Tio's pull tab environment developed from his lifelong interest in large number projects. John started recycling aluminum pull-tabs one night because he had "time on his hands." At first, John strung the tabs together into chains with no particular project in mind, but he soon decided to decorate a shed next to has holiday camper in a campground in the tiny village of Rome. At its high point, John's "Pop Top King" display contained over fourteen miles of chains and more than one million pull tabs. Over the years, John received a fair amount of positive recognition. The site was dismantled and put into storage in 1997, but John not ruled out reassembly."

“The Lost Sculptures of Irving L. Young”
In the book "Strange Wisconsin," author Linda Godfrey provides an intriguing tale about the nearly-forgotten sculptures of the late Irving L. Young, who had a grand scheme in mind for this location which involved the building of a unique chapel and several scrap-material figures.

DUE TO REPEATED ACTS OF TRESPASSING AND VANDALISM, IT HAS BEEN MADE CLEAR BY THE OWNERS THAT ANY FUTURE TRESPASSERS SHALL BE PROSECUTED.

"Young began his sculptures with castoff aluminum pieces from his own business, but he scavenged for other materials. He used marble from a demolished washroom and virgin timber from a 100-year-old beer hall in Fond du Lac."

World's Greatest Junk Parade
"If you were born after 1986, or you didn't live in the Rome/Sullivan area in the 80's, you probably know nothing about the Junk Parade. The World's Greatest Junk Parade was and is like no other parade you've ever experienced. Forget about the shiny cars, brightly colored trucks and farm tractors that you're used to seeing in all the other parades.
The World's Greatest Junk Parade is just the opposite. In fact the worse the parade entry looks, all the better. From old rundown and rusty manure spreaders, to beat-up, banged-up cars and even motorboats with wheels. pretty much anything goes in The World's Greatest Junk Parade."

"...beneath the surface of Rock Lake lie at least ten structures. Two of these have been mapped and photographed by skin divers and sonar. Structure #1, which has been dubbed the Limnatis Pyramid, has a base width of 60 feet, a length of about 100 feet, and a height of 18 feet, although only about 10 feet protrude from the silt and mud. It is a truncated pyramid, built largely out of round, black stones. On the truncated top, the stones are squarish. The remains of a plaster coating can be discerned."

location:  Watertown

In the book "Giants in the Land," author Dennis Boyer tells of the German version of the Snipe known by settlers in the Watertown area. Unsuspecting folk would be tricked into spending a lengthy period of time hunting for this imaginary bird.

"Elbedritzels are generally omens of good luck. They are associated with finding wealth or love. They might also make an appearance at the end of long suffering. They are not physically intimidating like many of the mythical birds. They're rarely larger than a turkey. As strange as it sounds, they combine elements of peacocks and kiwis."

Author Linda Godfrey has chronicled events concerning a prowling seven-foot-tall hairy humanoid witnessed by folks traveling by the bluffs near Highway H.

"Wallerman drew a sketch of how she remembered the creature, and it does not look like a Manwolf. It's a rather classic witness drawing of Bigfoot, but with long claws that she remembered seeing flash against the snow."

location:  Jefferson

Founded in 1904, the campus of St. Coletta is devoted to the support of people with developmental disabilities. One of the on-site residential dormitories, Serra Hall, is reported to be haunted. The grounds of St. Coletta were also the site of a 1936 encounter with what may be a Manwolf, as described in the book "Real Wolfmen".

"Serra Hall — St. Coletta's is a giant campus of buildings, houses, and dormitories that serves people with disabilities. one of the dormitories known as "Serra Hall" has had several occurrences where someone is heard walking up and down the hallway of the second floor, despite everyone being in their respected rooms. in addition, staff working on the first floor would sometimes have to repeatedly call the second floor staff to let them know that she (the spirit) had turned on the showers again."

location:   Watertown
museum / historical site

The Octagon House
"The five-story Octagon House is one of the largest single family residences of the pre-Civil War period in Wisconsin. Completed in 1854, the house was designed by John Richards, a Watertown pioneer. Its original construction includes central heating, running water and a ventilating system. A spiral staircase rises from the first floor to the tower room, or cupola. The Watertown Historical Society opened it as a museum in 1938; it previously served as the Richards family residence. Watertown was the site of the first kindergarten in the United States, started in 1856 by the German educator Margarethe Meyer Schurz. 100 years later the kindergarten building was moved by the Watertown Historical Society to its current site."
