Mary Nohl's Yard Art
private property

location:  Fox Point
yard art  /  roadside attraction

  Click here for MORE PHOTOS

"The lakefront home of Mary Nohl, complete with all her art, passed to Kohler Foundation upon her death at the age of 87 in December 2001. During Mary's long and productive lifetime, she filled her life, her home, and her yard with an incredible array of art. Reclusive in her later years, Mary was often called the "witch of Fox Point" and legends grew about the artist as she embellished her home and filled her yard with concrete sculptures. She worked in all media and her large body of work includes painting, sculpture, jewelry, drawings, assemblages, and more...The site is not open to the public at this time."

Buried Cadillac & Decorated House

location:  Cudahy
yard art

Hopefully Wisconsin's ridiculous property tax system doesn't consider the below-ground Caddy as an outbuilding.

A mannequin on an antique tractor, a vintage Ski-Doo, an old-fashioned gas pump and a few steel pigs are just a few of the many items that adorn the yard.

A half-buried blue classic Cadillac stands out amongst the other items that decorate this Cudahy lawn.

If you are really quiet you can hear foot steps in the woods coming towards you and with those foot steps you can hear very heavy breathing, if you wait for those foot steps to come to you, you will feel a very uneasy feeling come over you like an evil feeling. It's said that adults and children have been killed there and even suicides from the people that did the killings. (WARNING! the park closes at 10:00pm, so don't park in the park after that time, park on a side street. If you get caught by police you will get ticketed). Trimborn Farm

historical structures

"The nine buildings that comprise Trimborn Farm include two large barns. One of the barns is the largest stone barn in the state. There is also a restored Greek Revival-style farmhouse that dates back to the early 1860s.  The most unusual of the existing structures is a group of lime kilns, which produced high quality lime mortar and plaster that were used in the construction of early buildings throughout metropolitan Milwaukee from about 1850 to 1900.  Other buildings with interesting architectural features are the granary -- a structure with a wood-exterior and a brick-interior, and a barrel-vaulted smokehouse. "
