Snowmobile on Roof
at Kathy's Valley Inn Bar & Grill

location:  Townsend / Lakewood
roadside oddity

North of Lakewood you will pass a tavern in a low spot on the west side of the road.  You may ask how the snowmobile made its way to the roof.  Perhaps via a crane or winch...  My guess is, after a few too many cans of Blatz Pilsener, this fella tried making it home from the bar only to pass out, strike a large snowdrift, wake up on the roof, look to his left and mutter "Cripes, it looks like I won first prize."

Actually, the former highway iron bridge is no longer in use for road traffic, but has been saved as an outdoor art gallery and as a starting point for a nature boardwalk.  A mural depicting local history is located prominently on the bridge.
